Visit the Farm
Out of concern for the health and safety of our employees and guests we have made the difficult decision to not conduct organized group tours of the farm in 2021. We are optimistic that next year we will be able to resume tours. The farm grounds will remain open to guests daily from 10 am to 7 pm, we ask that you observe 6 foot distancing from other families, and wear a mask when inside barns when other guests are present. Thank you!
Come down to the farm in Carleton (click here for map) and visit your local cows! The farm is open to the public 7 days a week, all year long, with spring and summer being our busy seasons. Our cows produce the milk that is home delivered to your front door, that you picked up at our store or farm or at one of the many fine stores that carry our milk & other dairy products.
Come watch the ‘girls’ being milked at 4:00 pm every day. Our Viewing Room has recently been renovated and now contains great informational posters and fun interactive activities for all ages.
We have a new goat area where you can see the goats run up and down their playscape to get the feed that you send up to them. Too fun!
Visit our country farm store where you can purchase ice cream cones (fresh waffle cones made daily!), milk shakes, a delicious sundae…or check out the dairy cooler for a full selection of our premium dairy products. Farm made fudge, local honey, maple syrup and locally grown popcorn.
We have an indoor seating area, and a covered pavilion next to the pond. You can sit and watch our waterfall as you enjoy your ice cream cone!!
You can even milk a cow by hand if you participate in a pre-planned/supervised farm tour!
Tours are available for groups of 15 or more (FYI: If less than 15 people show up on the day of your scheduled guided tour you will still be charged for the minimum 15 person rate). Tours are available year round but we recommend scheduling between the months of April and October as most of the tour activities are outside. Farm tours are great outings for school groups, day care, church groups, or birthday parties and family get-togethers. A word to the wise for the 2018 organized tour season; May always books up first! In 2017 we were completely booked (sometimes double booked!) for May months in advance. So plan ahead if you want to get a booking in May 2018…we would love to have everyone visit!
Schedule a tour to milk a dairy cow by hand, learn about cows in the education center, feed a baby calf with a bottle, feed the ducks and geese, head over to Annie’s Barn to feed the goats and see all the horses, take a MOO-ride (wagon ride), and finish your trip with a delicious bowl of ice cream farm made with our own milk!
Call the farm today at (734) 654-2622 for current tour prices or to schedule your farm tour! If you email us for tour information be sure to include your phone number so the tour crew can call you!!! We cannot confirm tour bookings via email.
If you wish to order lunch items for your tour please request an order form at the time of your booking. Also, for groups larger than 30 people we will provide an order form to pre-order your guests ice cream choices.
We have a large seating area under a covered pavilion located in the pond area at the farm where you are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch. The pavilion is also available to decorate as you would like for birthday parties hosted at the farm.
The Calder Farm now has an indoor seating area!!! The room currently seats approximately 35 people but we hope to be able to accommodate larger groups in the near future. For room rental pricing please contact the farm at the above phone number.
Keep in mind this is a REAL WORKING FARM! Once you have scheduled your tour and are ready to head out to the farm please make sure to remind your group members, students, chaperones, etc of the tour policies. Click here to view our tour policies. It is also a good idea to read over the policies before scheduling a tour to ensure a trip to the farm is appropriate for your group.
